Shopian : As part of the ongoing celebrations, commemorating 150 Years of National Song, ‘Vande Mataram’, District Administration Shopian Wednesday organized a plantation drive in the premises of the Mini Secretariat, Shopian.
The plantation drive was led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police, Mushtaq Ahmad, ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz and other senior officers of the district who planted saplings reaffirming their commitment to preserving the environment.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted that the plantation drive represents not only an environmental initiative but also a symbolic gesture of respect towards the beloved land.
He emphasized that such activities foster a sense of responsibility among citizens towards the protection of nature and urged all departments to continue contributing to the celebration of Vande Mataram through meaningful community-oriented activities.
SSP, while interacting with the participants, underscored the importance of collective participation in environmental conservation and encouraged youth to actively engage in similar green initiatives.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of officers and officials of all line departments.
