Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in Anantnag, Pulwama & Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that in Anantnag police intercepted a suspect Dilpazeer Khan, at a checkpoint near Methmoo Crossing, recovering 3.140 kg of Bhang Bhoosa (grinded cannabis) from his nylon sack. He was arrested, and a case (FIR No. 64/2025) has been registered at Police Station Uttrasoo, with an investigation underway. Similarly, a police team from Police Station Dooru apprehended two suspects, Sharoof Ahmad Wagay and Mohd Yaseen Shah, at Mandipora crossing. They were found in possession of 750 grams of a ganja-like substance and 410 grams of poppy straw, leading to their arrest and the registration of FIR No. 108/2025, with ongoing investigations. In Pulwama, a police team from Police Station Kakpora, acting on reliable information, stopped a vehicle and arrested two individuals, Mohd Iftikhar Ali and Mohd Altaf Naik.
