JU registers fourth consecutive win, enters quarterfinals at All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Tournament

Jammu : The University of Jammu cricket team continued its remarkable run of form by registering its fourth consecutive victory, defeating RTM University, Nagpur by 91 runs and securing a place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament being held at LUVAS University, Hisar (Haryana).

The University of Jammu posted an impressive total of 217 runs in 20 overs. Niranjan Singh led from the front with a fluent 57 runs, while Vishal Sudan contributed a solid 50. Valuable cameos came from Shami (24), Raj Kumar Bakshi (19), Rajesh (17), and Shantul (16), helping the team cross the 200-run mark with ease. For RTM University, Ninad Raut claimed 3 wickets for 37 runs, while Deepak Ghodmare (2/51), Mahendra Bhau (2/29), and Sameer Dani (2/41) chipped in with wickets.

In response, RTM University, Nagpur could manage only 126 runs, being bowled out in their full quota of 20 overs. Nilesh Rotke top-scored with 51 runs, followed by Ritesh (16) and Suraj (10). The bowling attack of the University of Jammu once again displayed exceptional teamwork. Shantul Raina produced a match-winning spell, taking 4 wickets for 29 runs, while Karan bagged 2 for 24, Balwant Singh claimed 2 for 20, and Raj Kumar Bakshi and Rajesh took one wicket each.

For his outstanding bowling performance, Shantul Raina was declared the Man of the Match. Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, along with the President, Vice President, General Secretary, and members of JUNTEU, congratulated the team for their stellar performance and wished them continued success in the upcoming matches.
