Commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram; Pulwama Admin organizes Mega event at Awantipora

Pulwama : As part of the ongoing district-wide celebrations marking 150 Years of national “Vande Mataram”, a mega commemorative event was organised Tuesday at Government Higher Secondary School, ChersooAwantipora.

The event witnessed the presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Awantipora, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone; Tehsildars of Awantipora and Pampore, BDOs of Awantipora and Pampore, Principals of various educational institutions, besides students, youth and the general public.

The day-long programme commenced with the recitation of the National Anthem by a group of students, followed by a march past featuring contingents from various educational institutions of the area.

Furthermore, an exhibition was also organized on the occasion, where students displayed artworks, paintings and portraits of freedom fighters, and models highlighting India’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The venue resonated with patriotic fervour as participants together took the Viksit Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to contribute to the nation’s progress and unity.

A musical concert was held where students rendered soulful performances of Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs, celebrating the spirit of India’s freedom movement.

Moreover, a plantation drive was also carried out on the occasion to symbolise growth, harmony, and environmental responsibility.

Additionaly, a short film on the history and legacy of national song “Vande Mataram” was screened highlighting the history and legacy of “Vande Mataram”.

To engage youth through sports and teamwork, a cricket match and tug-of-war competition were also held, drawing enthusiastic participation from students. The event culminated with the Unity Pledge, echoing the ideals of oneness and national pride.

Meanwhile, as part of the year-long action plan to commemorate 150 Years of “Vande Mataram”, commemorative events and pledges were held across various tehsils, blocks, government offices, and educational institutions of the district to create wider awareness about the historical and cultural significance of Vande Mataram among all sections of society
