Srinagar : The Department of English, University of Kashmir (KU) on Monday commenced a three-day workshop on ‘Graphic Narratives’ at the Main Campus.
The event focused on the increasing significance of graphic storytelling as a blend of literature and art, promoting engagement with visual expression in both academic and creative settings. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized that such workshops foster creativity and interdisciplinary learning, enhancing students’ critical and empathetic thinking about their surroundings. This initiative aligns with the University’s dedication to holistic and innovative education. Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada, stressed the importance of incorporating contemporary literary and visual studies into the academic curriculum to align with global educational trends. Keynote speaker Ikroop Sandhu, a graphic novelist, discussed how graphic novels improve visual literacy and enable readers to engage with narratives through artistic expression.
