Ganderbal : In a significant step aimed to pave way for setting up of dwelling units for the economically weaker sections of society, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore in presence of Executive Officer, Municipal Council Ganderbal handed over sanction letters to seven beneficiaries under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, here.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized that the primary objective of the scheme is to ensure that economically disadvantaged individuals are provided with a roof over their heads. He noted that the district administration has been actively working towards achieving the goals of the initiative, and the distribution of sanction letters represents part of a broader commitment to uplift underprivileged sections of society.

These seven beneficiaries were proposed by the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) and subsequently approved by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CS&MC). As per the scheme’s guidelines, each beneficiary is given a sanction for the construction of a dwelling unit with a maximum area of 45 square meters. The construction is to be completed in three phases viz. Plinth level, Lintel level, and Roof/Completion, and must be finalized within one year from the receipt of the sanction letter.

The scheme provides financial support to beneficiaries in three installments based on the progress of construction. The total amount sanctioned for each beneficiary is Rs. 2.5 lakh, which is disbursed progressively as the construction advances through each phase.
