Udhampur: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur district and held a high level meeting to assess the progress of ongoing developmental projects and flagship government initiatives across various sectors. The meeting was also attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure besides other divisional and district officers of various departments.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for improved road connectivity and mobile tower installations in the Dudu-Basantgarh area to enhance accessibility and communication. He urged district administration departments to ensure all eligible beneficiaries are included in government schemes, advocating for inter-departmental coordination, transparency, and accountability in project execution. Officers were instructed to commit to timely project completion to foster district growth. In the education sector, the Chief Secretary mandated the Chief Education Officer to ensure quality education in government schools, with strict monitoring of teacher attendance through biometric systems. He also called for regular field visits by officers to assess progress and directed the Deputy Commissioner to conduct department-wise review meetings for timely project completion. The importance of capitalizing on Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and engaging youth through Mission YUVA was highlighted, alongside the effective implementation of self-employment schemes. The Chief Secretary urged the Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite ongoing projects and adhere to targets, while the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) was tasked with exploring measures to rejuvenate the Devika River. During the review of PMGSY projects, he instructed concerned officers to mobilize resources and accelerate project execution within set timelines. In the healthcare sector, the Chief Secretary called for strengthening critical care services at GMC Udhampur and the introduction of specialties in Cardiology, Neurology, and Oncology, along with plans for increasing intake capacity and initiating postgraduate programs. He also directed bankers to promote financial inclusion and government schemes, increase loan sanctioning cases, and ensure effective follow-up under Mission YUVA. The Chief Secretary encouraged public awareness of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to promote solar power adoption at the household level. During a visit to the Government Medical College, he reviewed construction progress and instructed the executing agency to implement a double-shift work schedule for timely completion, emphasizing efficient resource mobilization and manpower utilization. The Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur presented a detailed overview of ongoing projects and flagship schemes across various departments, including road construction, tourism development, and water supply augmentation, highlighting significant progress in multiple initiatives such as PMGSY, MGNREGA, and the Devika Project.
