Rajouri: Acting strictly against violators of traffic and transport regulations, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Rajesh Gupta, has suspended the licenses of six vehicles for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The enforcement action was carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, and Transport Commissioner J&K, Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

In addition, the registration of a vehicle bearing registration number JK11G-1217 (Bolero Pick-up) has been suspended for its involvement in bovine smuggling.

Continuing the enforcement drive, the ARTO Rajouri and his team carried out a road checking operation early this morning on the Chingus–Kallar stretch of the Rajouri–Poonch National Highway, during which 200 vehicles were inspected. The drive resulted in the issuance of 20 e-challans amounting to an expected revenue of ₹55,000, recommendation of two driving licences for suspension, and seizure of one e-auto at PP Kallar found plying unauthorisedly on the National Highway.

The ARTO reiterated that stringent enforcement drives will continue to ensure discipline and adherence to traffic norms across the district.
