Shopian : The weeklong celebrations of the Commemoration of 150 years of National Song,‘VandeMataram’ commenced across Shopian district Friday with the main event held at Mini Secretariat.
The opening day of the celebrations was enthusiastically participated by a diverse group of citizens, including officials, students, civil society and other citizens at the district function as well as in other educational institutions of the district.
The participants joined the online rendition of Vanda Matram through the national level program, reaffirming their commitment to national unity and pride. During the event, besides witnessing the national level and UT Level functions, patriotic songs and speeches were presented by school children, which added vibrancy to the celebrations at the district function. Local performers presented the National Song with pride and elegance adding the vibrancy to the event.
During the celebrations, various programmes including debates, painting competitions and cultural shows will be organized in Tehsils and Blocks, as well as in educational institutions across the district, aiming to commemorate the 150 years of the national song.
SSP, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary; ADDC, Shopian, Dr.Nasir Ahmed Lone; ADC Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; several district and sectoral officers also attended the programme with great zeal.
The commemorative functions were also held in GDCs and Higher Secondary institutions of the district during the inaugural day of the campaign.
