Dr Jitendra Leads ‘Vande Matram’ March On IB Zero Line, Announces Land Compensation

Hiranagar: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Friday led a foot march in Londi More, near the International Border, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram.”
The event included participation from students, BSF personnel, local representatives, and community members, culminating at the Border Out Post Tapan. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Singh emphasized the historical significance of “Vande Mataram” in India’s freedom struggle, highlighting its role in fostering national unity and self-respect. During the event, Dr. Singh announced government measures to support residents of border areas, including compensation for land donated to the BSF for security purposes. He stated that the district administration would develop a compensation scheme for affected landowners. Additionally, he revealed plans to establish an all-woman battalion in border regions, with recruitment to begin soon. Dr. Singh articulated that the commemoration aims to reconnect citizens, particularly the youth, with the essence of “Vande Mataram,” which symbolizes India’s cultural richness and civilizational ethos. He noted the significance of launching the campaign from the Zero Line, where soldiers vigilantly protect the nation’s sovereignty. The year-long celebrations are intended to deepen the understanding of “Vande Mataram” beyond its historical context, reinforcing its importance in preserving India’s cultural identity. Dr. Singh also acknowledged the government’s efforts since 2014 to honor national heroes and promote India’s heritage.
