Viksit Bharat Pledge, Vande Mataram Concert, Plantation Drive, sports activities mark the occasion

Pulwama: In alignment with the nationwide commemoration of 150 years of national song “Vande Mataram”, the District Administration Pulwama Friday organised a mega event at Government Degree College (Boys) Pulwama, joining the nation in celebrating the spirit of patriotism and unity.

Earlier in the day, the District Administration joined virtually the National commemoration event held in New Delhi, where Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long celebration of 150 years of Vande Mataram.

The district-level event witnessed the presence of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, and Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama, Tanushree. Besides, officers from administration, police and CRPF 182/183 BN; social activists, NGOs, civil society members, trade union representatives, students, youth and local citizens also participated in the event.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama administered the Viksit Bharat Pledge to the participants, reaffirming the commitment towards building a developed and progressive nation.

Furthermore, a vibrant Vande Mataram Concert, organised by the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Pulwama, filled the atmosphere with energy and patriotic fervour through renditions of national and patriotic songs. To mark the celebration, a plantation drive was also organised, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

Later, Dr. Qayoom led a commemorative rally from the college premises to the Sports Stadium Pulwama, where a cricket match was organised to celebrate the occasion. The DC felicitated the participating teams and lauded their enthusiasm and participation in the spirit of national celebration.

The event was the part of the district’s comprehensive action plan to commemorate 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’, under which the District Administration has already rolled out an activity-wise schedule for the year-long celebrations encompassing a series of cultural programmes, essay and quiz competitions, plantation drives, awareness campaigns, and musical events to be organised across the district.
