GDC Samba students join hands to spread consumer awareness under FCS&CA Initiative
Samba : An awareness programme on the schemes of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) was organized Friday at Government Degree College, Samba, under the overall guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Ayushi Sudan and the supervision of Assistant Director FCS&CA, Rahul Gupta.
The event aimed to sensitize students about the functioning and welfare schemes of the department. Deputy Commissioner, Ayushi Sudan, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while the College Principal Prof, Meenu Abrol, provided academic leadership and extended full support in organizing the programme.
As part of the event, students enthusiastically participated in a Symposium and Painting Competition focused on consumer rights, food security and transparency in the Public Distribution System. An Expert Talk session was also hosted to promote deeper understanding and interactive learning among students.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of awareness about government welfare initiatives and urged students to become informed and responsible citizens to actively contribute to transparent governance.
Prof. Meenu Abrol appreciated the initiative and highlighted the value of inter-departmental collaboration in fostering informed and socially responsible youth.
The Assistant Director, FCS&CA underscored the significance of such awareness drives in empowering students with knowledge about public welfare schemes and promoting participatory governance at the grassroots level.
From the Department of FCS&CA, TSO Veerpal; Storekeeper Vijaypur; Amit Samotra and Storekeeper Navnidhi interacted with students and addressed their queries regarding departmental schemes and procedures.
The students evinced keen interest and actively engaged in all sessions, making the programme both insightful and impactful. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks and a collective pledge to spread awareness about consumer welfare and responsible citizenship.
