At the outset, the Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Adnan Nazir briefed the committee about the overall functioning and achievements of the Cooperative Department in the district.

It was further informed that Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Units (FPUs) are receiving financial support under various government schemes to promote rural entrepreneurship and employment generation.

During the meeting, the committee approved the establishment of an FPU in MPCS Kanthpora for setting up a bakery unit. The Chair was also apprised about the completion of works at the Cooperative Super Bazar Kupwara and the ongoing progress on the world’s largest grain storage project at Turkpora.
