Srinagar :Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama and Shopian and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to a police statement issued here on Tuesday in Pulwama law enforcers conducted a successful operation at Gudoora Crossing, where they intercepted two individuals, Mohd Ashraf Naik and Abdul Qayoom Mir, who were found in possession of approximately 7 kilograms of Poppy Straw. In a separate incident at Singo Narbal, police apprehended Ishfaq Ahmad Hafiz, who was carrying 77.5 grams of a charas-like substance. Additionally, in Shopian, a police checkpoint at Heff Kuri led to the arrest of Tariq Ahmad Sheikh, who was found with 3.6 kilograms of a charas-like substance. All accused individuals have been taken into custody, and cases have been registered under relevant legal sections at their respective police stations, with further investigations underway. Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to combat drug peddling and appealed people to assist it by providing information regarding drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
