Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow electrified Patna this evening, turning the city into a spectacular carnival of democracy, with thousands of supporters thronging the streets to catch a glimpse of the leader.
The event, one of the highlights of the ongoing Bihar Assembly election campaign, was aimed at bolstering support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) across six key constituencies in and around the city.
The Prime Minister arrived in Patna after addressing rallies in Ara and Nawada and began the roadshow from Dinakar Golambar, where he paid floral tributes to noted Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’.
Boarding a saffron-decked, specially decorated campaign vehicle, Modi, accompanied by union Minister Lalan Singh, who was representing the JDU, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, waved to the crowd throughout the route.
Starting from Dinkar Chauraha and concluding near Udyog Bhawan, the 2.8-kilometre route was densely packed with people waving saffron flags, holding placards, and chanting slogans in support of the NDA. The procession concluded near Udyog Bhavan, close to Gandhi Maidan, around 6:25 p.m.
The city wore a festive look, illuminated with saffron lights and adorned with banners and giant cutouts of the Prime Minister. The roadsides were transformed into a spectacle of light and colour, barricades lined both sides, supporters showered flower petals on the convoy, while many residents waved from balconies and rooftops.
Traditional drummers, folk performers, and women’s groups lined the roads, giving the political event a cultural touch.
Emotionally charged women performed aarti from their terraces as the Prime Minister’s vehicle passed by. Modi responded by folding his hands and bowing to the people, acknowledging their affection.
To ensure safety and for smooth conduct, over 5,000 security personnel, including SPG x paramilitary forces and Bihar police, were deployed along the route. Streets along the route were sealed for traffic, and snipers were stationed on rooftops for aerial monitoring. CCTV cameras monitored the entire stretch and emergency services kept on standby.Traffic restrictions were imposed in central Patna, with key roads closed between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The
The crowd’s enthusiasm reflected the BJP’s strong presence and organisational strength as the Prime Minister’s route passed through Nala Road, Bari Path, Thakurbari Road, and Bakar Ganj, ending at Gandhi Maidan.
The roadshow concluded near Gandhi Maidan, after which PM Modi was scheduled to visit Gurudwara Shri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib.
