Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-

  1. LG Inaugurates DREAM School Project In Srinagar: This week Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the DREAM (Developing Resilient Education and Aspirational Mindsets) School Project at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh. The initiative, in collaboration with the Faizal and Shabana Foundation, features robotics labs, STEM innovation centres, smart classrooms, and digital learning facilities. The LG said government schools would lead India’s learning reforms and emphasised holistic education and teacher development. He added that J&K has become an “Oasis of Talent” through inclusive and technology-driven education policies. The project follows the successful Nadakkavu model in Kerala and aims to transform public education in Jammu and Kashmir.
  2. CM Inaugurates Noor Jahan Bridge At Qamarwari : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week inaugurated the 3×43 metre PSC Girder Double Lane Noor Jahan Bridge at Qamarwari, constructed over River Jhelum at a cost of ₹12.77 crore. The bridge connects Qamarwari with Noorbagh and provides an alternate link to Nallahmar Road, easing congestion in Srinagar’s busy localities. Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister said, “We will let our work speak when people judge us after five years.” He reiterated his government’s commitment to development and renewed the call for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The bridge is expected to enhance connectivity and improve traffic flow across the city.
  3. LG’s Message On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha this week paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary, marking Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. In his message, the LG described Sardar Patel as the “Architect of National Unity” and an epitome of integrity. He urged people to follow Patel’s ideals of patriotism and brotherhood, reinforcing the spirit of unity and peace. The LG called for collective resolve to uphold national integration and social harmony in tribute to the Iron Man of India.
  4. CM Inaugurates Kashmir Marathon Exposition At Polo View: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week inaugurated the exposition for Kashmir Marathon–2025 at Polo View, Srinagar, marking the final preparations for the November 2 marathon. The event featured stalls by government departments, sports firms, and event partners promoting fitness and outdoor recreation. The Chief Minister interacted with athletes and volunteers, appreciating their contribution to fostering a healthy lifestyle. Earlier, he unveiled the official marathon merchandise at Royal Springs Golf Course and invited fitness enthusiasts to participate. The marathon aims to promote tourism, unity, and Kashmir’s growing sporting culture.
  5. LG Calls For Agricultural Innovation At SKUAST-K: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the Deeksharambh induction programme at SKUAST-Kashmir, themed Anekta Mein Ekta Diwas, marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. He urged students to drive innovation in agriculture through AI-powered farming and diversification into high-value crops. The LG said J&K should target a 5% annual growth rate to contribute to India’s development. Calling SKUAST-K a “Mini India,” he praised its academic transformation and student diversity. The LG felicitated social workers and visited the campus Chrysanthemum Garden, emphasising that education should empower youth to make meaningful contributions to society.
  6. CM Lays Foundation Stone Of Central Veterinary Hospital At Athwajan : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week laid the foundation stone of the Central Veterinary Hospital at Athwajan, to be built at a cost of ₹11.91 crore. The state-of-the-art facility will offer modern veterinary treatment, diagnostics, and animal welfare services to benefit livestock owners and dairy farmers. The Chief Minister said the project reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the livestock and dairy sectors as vital components of Jammu and Kashmir’s rural economy. The project is being executed by the Public Works (R&B) Department. Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Ahsan Pardesi, and senior officials were present on the occasion.
