Kathua : Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma Saturday flagged off a Blood Donation Van to Bani from the DC Office Complex. The initiative is aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation while extending the reach of healthcare services to far-flung regions such as Bani.
The specially designed Blood Donation Van is equipped with modern facilities for on-site blood collection, storage and preservation at prescribed temperatures, ensuring that the donated blood remains safe and viable for transfusion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the JK Blood Donors team and the Health Department Kathua for organizing the camp and saving lives through voluntary blood donation drives. He said that the Blood Donation Van will help bridge the gap between donors and patients in need of blood, especially in geographically challenging areas.
The DC further emphasized that such initiatives reflect the district administration’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and emergency response capabilities across the district. He encouraged youth and social organizations to actively participate in voluntary blood donation, terming it a noble act that symbolizes compassion and service to humanity.
The Blood Donation Van will travel to Bani, carrying essential medical equipment and preservation units, where it will facilitate the collection and safe storage of blood during the camp. The move is expected to significantly enhance the district’s capacity for timely blood transfusions and emergency care in remote health institutions.
Officials from the Health Department, members of the JK Blood Donors team and volunteers were present at the flag-off ceremony.
