Srinagar: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar organized a Joint Run for Unity on Friday to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) and Vigilance Awareness Week 2025.

The event aimed to promote values of national integration, unity, and ethical responsibility among students and staff, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India. The program commenced with the Ekta Diwas Pledge, which was administered by key officials including Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, the Director In-charge, and other faculty members. The pledge emphasized participants’ commitment to the unity and integrity of the nation. Following the pledge, the Run for Unity was flagged off at 10:00 AM from Fountain Park, attracting enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff. The event featured separate races for boys, girls, and faculty/staff members. Notable winners included Mohammad Yasir Mir in the boys’ category, Jeau Mishr in the girls’ category, and Naresh Kumar among the staff. All participants received certificates, while winners were awarded mementos and certificates by the institute’s leadership. In her address, Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir praised the collaborative efforts of the organizing bodies and highlighted the importance of unity, integrity, and ethical conduct. She encouraged attendees to embody these values in their personal and professional lives. The event concluded with a collective commitment to fostering a stronger, transparent, and united India, receiving widespread appreciation for its role in raising awareness about critical health issues affecting women globally.
