Srinagar : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed two Superintending Engineers from the Jal Shakti Department as In-charge Chief Engineers. Er. Vijay Singh Manhas has been designated as Director Technical for the Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA), while Er. Rajeev Gupta will serve as Chief Engineer for the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC).
The elevation is part of a broader initiative led by Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, aimed at addressing long-standing vacancies in higher positions within the department. The Minister has conducted a thorough review of the department’s structure, leading to a proposal for the relaxation of promotion rules, which was subsequently approved by the Council of Ministers under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. As a result of this reform, all promotional posts within the Jal Shakti Department have been filled within ten months, significantly enhancing efficiency and accountability. The streamlined promotion process is expected to facilitate timely and merit-based career advancement for engineers and other officers in the future. The department anticipates that the appointments of Er. Manhas and Er. Gupta will inject renewed energy, professional excellence, and improved project execution capabilities into their respective roles.
