B’pora celebrates National Unity Day with Enthusiastic ‘Run for Unity’

Bandipora : The District Administration Bandipora on Friday observed National Unity Day to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, by organizing a ‘Run for Unity’ from Chitternar to Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Stadium Bandipora.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, administered the Unity Pledge at Chitternar Bandipora in presence of the Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Ajaz Zargar, along with officers from civil administration and police.

Following the pledge, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Bandipora jointly flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’, in which a large number of students, officials and youth participated with patriotic fervor.

The event culminated at Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Stadium Bandipora, where the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Bandipora felicitated the winning participants and appreciated all runners for their enthusiastic involvement.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated all participants on National Unity Day and paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. She said that Patel’s contribution to national integration and civil services continues to serve as an inspiration for generations.

“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is remembered for many accomplishments, but what inspires me the most is his remarkable contribution and dedicated service in shaping the Indian Civil Services ; he remains a guiding figure and a true mentor for all of us in public service.” she added. She urged everyone to adopt the motto “Ek Kaam, Desh Ke Naam”, dedicating at least one sincere act in service of the nation, such as saving freshwater or following traffic rules in letter and spirit.

On the occasion, the DC emphasized that one should embrace imperfections and strive for continuous improvement, adding that “when you try to be perfect, your presence becomes ornamental and fake.” The DC encouraged the youth to “dare to dream, strategize, and work hard,” reminding them that nothing is impossible with determination and purpose.

Similar celebrations were also organized across the district at the sub-divisional and institutional levels, including Government Degree Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools, under the supervision of respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates and heads of institutions.

These runs witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, NCC cadets, volunteers, and officials, all united in reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of national integration, strength, and unity envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Among others, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation of Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani; ASP Bandipora, DIO Bandipora, DySPDAR , students, youth, and officials.
