We pay for 5G but get nothing’: Residents in central Kashmir slam Jio over poor connectivity

G’bal: Residents of Check Duderhama and adjoining areas in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have expressed concern over the poor mobile network and internet connectivity provided by telecom operator Jio, saying the problem has persisted for months without redressal.

Locals said that frequent call drops, weak signals and extremely slow internet speeds have disrupted normal communication and online activities.

“We have been facing serious network issues for a long time. Calls drop frequently, and the internet barely works. Despite repeated complaints to Jio’s customer care, no concrete action has been taken,” said Tantary Tanzeel, a resident of Check Duderhama.

Another resident, Mubashir Manzoor, said the company has failed to provide adequate service despite charging for high-speed plans. “We are paying for 5G services, but what we receive is barely functional. The poor network has made it difficult to stay connected with family, work remotely, or access essential online services,” he said. The residents said the issue has been ongoing for over a year and has particularly affected students, professionals and business owners who rely on stable internet connectivity. They have urged Jio officials to take immediate steps to upgrade infrastructure and improve services in the area.
