Patna (Bihar) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a press conference in Patna, Bihar, to discuss the upcoming celebrations for the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, coinciding with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2025.
Addressing the press conference the Home Minister recalled Patel’s significant role in uniting India post-independence and highlighted the annual grand parade held on October 31 at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, which honors the Central Armed Police Forces and state police forces, reaffirming national unity. This year, the celebrations will include a larger-scale “Run for Unity” across various states and institutions, culminating in a Unity Pledge by participants. Additionally, a cultural event called Bharat Parv will take place from November 1 to November 15, showcasing the diverse tribal culture of India. Shah portrayed Sardar Patel as an ideological figure dedicated to the nation, recounting his pivotal contributions during the freedom struggle and the integration of princely states after independence. Shah criticized the opposition for neglecting Patel’s legacy, noting the delayed recognition of his contributions, including the Bharat Ratna award. He praised the Statue of Unity, which was inaugurated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, as a monumental tribute to Patel, constructed using iron from farmers’ tools. The statue has become a significant tourist attraction, with numerous developments enhancing the surrounding area. The upcoming parade on October 31 will feature various police forces, cultural performances, and an air show by the Indian Air Force, aiming to embody the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” Shah announced that this parade will be an annual event, intended to inspire youth and promote unity and integrity in the nation, reflecting Sardar Patel’s enduring principles and contributions.
