Kishtwar : As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu on Wednesday organised an awareness programme here in the conference hall of the new DC Office Complex Kishtwar under the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.”

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among others present included SSP Naresh Singh; SSP ACB (DKR) Abdul Qayoom; ADDC Vinod Kumar Behnal; ACD Musharaf Ali Haf; Block Development Officers, other senior functionaries and members of the Civil Society.

The programme aimed to sensitize employees and citizens about the importance of honesty, integrity and transparency in public administration.

The Deputy Commissioner administered the Integrity Pledge, with participants reaffirming their collective commitment to transparent and accountable governance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the vital role of citizens in promoting transparency and urged them to remain vigilant and proactive in combating corruption.

The DC, while citing an example, observed that in some cases, roads deteriorate within a year of completion and contractors neglect their maintenance responsibilities. He underscored the responsibility of citizens to promptly report such lapses to the concerned departments, the District Administration or the ACB.

He further stressed that public participation and vigilance are key to ensuring transparency, accountability and quality in the execution of government schemes. He highlighted that the District Administration is committed to implementing all development works in a fair, transparent and time-bound manner.

Addressing the gathering, SSP Naresh Singh described corruption as a major obstacle to social, political and economic progress and called for greater public awareness to combat it.

SSP ACB (DKR) Abdul Qayoom also spoke on the occasion, urging citizens to act as the “eyes and ears” of the system by remaining vigilant and reporting corrupt practices.

He stressed that collective responsibility and citizen engagement are crucial to building a corruption-free and transparent administrative culture.
