DC Srinagar visits SMHS and Super Specialty Hospitals to review Traffic Decongestion & Management measures

Labroo takes stock of proposed plan of Nawab Bazar-Kak Saraie Corridor

Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Wednesday conducted a visit to Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, Super Specialty Hospital and Dental Hospital at Shreen Bagh to assess parking facilities, explore modalities for alternate vehicular route and implement sustainable parking solutions along the corridor of main City Hospitals.

During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Superintending Engineer, R&B Circle North, Shabir Ahmad; DSP Traffic Police, Suhail Ahmad; Medical Superintendent, SMHS Hospital, Dr Andleeb; Medical Superintendent, Super Specialty Hospital, Dr Rubina; Executive Engineer R&B, Abdul Qayoom; Tehsildar South, Sajad Rasool, and other Officers and Engineers.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took an onsite assessment for dedicated and designated parking facility and alternate vehicular route in and around the main City hospitals to prevent roadside congestion and facilitate smooth access for patients, attendants and emergency vehicles.

The DC took stock of the comprehensive plan project worked out to decongest the Nawab Bazar–Kak Saraie Corridor through the Suner Kul route, aimed at ensuring smooth ambulance and vehicular movement.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned departments to work out the modalities and plan of the first phase focusing on providing an alternate route and connectivity, traffic regulation, parking management and improved pedestrian movement to enhance convenience for the hospital staff, patients and attendants alike.

Emphasizing inter-departmental coordination, the DC urged the Hospital Administration, Traffic Police, and R&B department to work in synergy to streamline traffic flow in the hospital zone and ensure hassle-free access for patients and emergency vehicles.

During the visit, DC also interacted with local Residents and Traders and assured them that the District Administration is committed to improving facilities and easing traffic congestion along the heavy load hospital junction particularly from Nawab Bazar-Kak Saraie corridor.
