Movement barred on key roads from 5 AM, parking zones designated for participants

Srinagar : Ahead of the 2nd Edition of the Kashmir Marathon-2025 scheduled to be held on Sunday (November 2), the Srinagar Traffic Police on Tuesday issued a detailed advisory, announcing traffic restrictions and diversions across major routes of the summer capital to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
According to the advisory, the marathon being organized by the J&K Tourism Department is expected to witness large participation from locals and visitors.
The advisory reads that to avoid congestion, movement of vehicles will remain suspended on key roads including Residency Road, M.A. Road, Boulevard, Foreshore, Gupkar Road, and adjoining stretches during specific hours.
The Traffic Department said Residency Road from Radio Kashmir Crossing up to Polo View will remain closed from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while traffic on Rajbagh–Presentation Convent, M.A. Road–Nehru Park, Boulevard–Foreshore–Nishat–Kashmir University (Sir Syed Gate) and Gupkar–Ram Munshi Bagh routes will remain restricted between 5:00 AM and 1:30 PM.
The department has also earmarked several parking areas for participants, including SP College Ground, SDA Parking (Opposite Pick ‘N’ Choose), Multilevel Parking Press Colony, Presentation Convent School, Gindun Park Rajbagh, Institute of Hotel Management Rajbagh, Directorate of Horticulture Rajbagh, Football Ground TRC, Floriculture Park R.R. Road, and Cricket Ground TRC (Opposite J&K Bank Headquarters).
The advisory further stated that no Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed on the marathon routes such as R.R. Road, Gupkar, Boulevard, and Foreshore Road after 8:00 PM on November 1.
It also says, motorists from Harwan, Nishat, and Shalimar have been advised to take the Burzahama–Chandpora–Tailbal–Zakura–Habbak–Naseembagh road, while those from Ganderbal/Nagbal heading towards Lal Chowk should adopt the 90-Feet Soura Road.
“Citizens have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and avoid unnecessary movement on restricted roads between 5:00 AM and 1:30 PM on November 2,” the advisory says with reading in case of emergencies, vehicles will be allowed to take the shortest possible route and assistance can be sought through the Traffic Police Control Room helpline 103
