Jammu : Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal convened a meeting Tuesday to assess and strengthen arrangements for Gurupurab being observed on November 5 to mark Shri Guru Nanak Devi Ji Jayanti.
Ansuya Jamwal laid stress on foolproof security arrangements, directing the Police and Traffic department to remain alert and vigilant during the celebrations. She directed police to sanitize the major thoroughfares, particularly those leading to Gurudwaras to facilitate smooth movement of devotees and visitors. Traffic police were asked to formulate an effective regulation plan and designate parking zones to avoid congestion around the religious places.
Cleanliness and sanitation were underscored as critical components of the preparations. The Jammu Municipal Corporation and other urban local bodies were tasked with maintaining hygienic conditions around religious places. Concerned departments were asked to deploy water tanks and fire tenders, install mobile toilets, dustbins, watering or sprinkling systems as per the action plan. Stress was also laid on uninterrupted power and water supply.
Barricading, illumination, medical and health-emergency services as well as provision of the firefighting and emergency response system were discussed in full detail. Coordination between line-departments was flagged as vital to respond swiftly to any situation.
The Food & Civil Supplies & Legal Metrology departments were directed to monitor prices and quality of essential commodities during the festival period to prevent overpricing or adulteration. Sub Divisional Magistrates were instructed to oversee preparedness in their jurisdictions and report compliance to the district administration.
The meeting was attended by SP Vivek Shekhar; ACG Sania Haq Khan; Tehsildar Aman Kumar Anand; Tehsildar Paramdeep Singh along with officers of line departments and representatives of religious organizations.
