Rajouri :: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the implementation and progress of various health programmes in the district.

The meeting witnessed detailed discussions on maternal and child health, Home Based Newborn Care (HBNC), Home Based Young Child Care (HBYC), and Rashtriya Bal SwasthyaKaryakram (RBSK). The Deputy Commissioner directed field teams to ensure regular visits to homes, schools, and Anganwadi Centres to strengthen grassroots-level health interventions.

Taking a serious note of institutional deliveries, the DC directed the Health Department to promote institutional deliveries at Kalakote and Darhal by rationalizing deployment of anaesthesia and gynaecology specialists to cater to local needs. He also reviewed the status of Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK) and Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) and emphasized prompt and transparent service delivery to all eligible beneficiaries.

The DC further directed the department to ensure provision of free diet and transport services under JSSK across all health institutions of the district to provide improved maternal and child care outcomes.

Other key parameters reviewed included sex ratio at birth, family planning services, child immunization, adolescent health, inpatient and diagnostic services, Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening, cataract surgeries, Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) performance, and the functioning of Block Public Health Units (BPHUs) in the district.

The DC directed the department to ensure 100% screening of the vulnerable population so that TB can be eradicated. He further instructed to organize regular training sessions for ASHA workers, obtain feedback from them, and felicitate top-performing ASHAs who have received the highest incentives as a motivation for others.

Highlighting the importance of community participation, the DC asked the department to engage nursing college students as ‘Adi Sahyogis’ in tribal villages to support awareness generation and service delivery in far-flung areas.

Reviewing telemedicine facilities at Badhaal, Dhar Sakri and Bagla, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to enhance digital consultation access for the rural population to bridge the healthcare gap. He also instructed the RBSK teams to scale up their performance and organize visual and audio impairment screening camps, ensuring line-listing of identified individuals for follow-up and necessary medical interventions.

While reviewing the functioning of Primary Health Centres (PHCs), the DC stressed the need to improve infrastructure, optimize manpower utilization, and enhance service quality to ensure better patient care and satisfaction.

Among those present in the meeting were Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri, Dr. Manohar Lal Rana, District Tuberculosis Officer, Block Medical Officers, Block Programme Management Units, Block ASHA Coordinators, DEIC Manager, District Programme Coordinators of NTEP and PMJAY and other officers of the Health Department.
