Srinagar : The annual cultural festival, Rang-e-Chinar, commenced on Saturday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, drawing over 8,000 participants, including students, faculty, and visitors.
The festival, themed ‘Roots and Rhythms,’ was held to celebrate creativity and cultural expression, with plans for a larger edition in 2025 as Rang-e-Chinar 2.0. The two-day event features a variety of workshops, exhibitions, performances, and interactive installations, providing an immersive experience for attendees. Key figures at the opening ceremony included Prof. Binod Kumar Kanujia, the Director of NIT Srinagar, who emphasized the significance of cultural festivals in promoting holistic student development and community engagement. He noted that the theme reflects a blend of traditional values and contemporary artistic expression. Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, In-Charge Director and Dean R&C, highlighted the festival as a platform for students to showcase their talents beyond academics, fostering teamwork and innovation.
