Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has seized one JCB, three dumpers and two tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from the Zainapora and Shopian areas.
According to a police statement issued here on Saturday Police Station Zainapora on Saturday seized two dumpers operating without valid royalty documents. An FIR, numbered 95/2025, has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway. In a related incident, Police Post Turkwangam seized one dumper and one tractor involved in the illegal extraction of minerals, leading to the registration of FIR No. 96/2025 at Police Station Zainapora, with further investigations ongoing. Additionally, Police Station Shopian has also acted against illegal mineral extraction by seizing one JCB and one tractor found operating without the necessary royalty documents. A case under FIR No. 229/2025 has been registered besides initiating an investigation. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect district’s natural resources and maintainstrict action against violators, appealing people therein to cooperate with it by reporting any incidents of illegal mining.
