Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 5 long time absconders in Kulgam and Sopore.
According to a police statement issued here on Saturday In Kulgam Police on Saturday arrested Manzoor Ahmad Mahu, an absconder involved in a long-standing case (FIR No. 89/2006) related to reckless driving and causing death, which had been registered on April 26, 2006. Mahu had been evading arrest for an extended period. In Sopore, law enforcement apprehended four absconders, including three individuals linked to a serious crime case from 2014. The trio—Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Ajaz Ahmad Shah, and Mohsin Ali Shah—were arrested by a special team from Police Station Panzalla. They had been on the run for 11 years, wanted in connection with FIR No. 10/2014, which involved serious charges including abduction and sexual assault. Additionally, Shahzad Ahmad Lone was arrested by Police Post Warpora Sopore. He was wanted in a case (FIR No. 241/2019) involving serious offenses, including abduction and sexual assault, and had been evading arrest since 2019.
