Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama & Shopian and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to a police statement issued here on Saturday a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kakapora Police Station in Pulwama district intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint. The vehicle, an i-10 with registration number JK01N/5539, was driven by Bilal Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Summerbug Lasjan. During the search, authorities discovered 41 grams of a substance resembling Charas in the vehicle’s dashboard. Sofi was arrested at the scene, and the vehicle was seized. A case under FIR No. 67/2025, has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is underway. In a separate incident in Shopian, a police team from the Imamsahib Police Station apprehended a suspicious individual at a checkpoint. The suspect, identified as Ab Majeed Chopan from Frasdab, Charishreef Budgam, attempted to flee but was arrested.
