Impersonator posing as senior police officer held in Ang : Police

Srinagar: Police Station Kokernag on Friday foiled an attempt of impersonation after a naka party of Police Station Kokernag apprehended a suspicious individual during routine checking.
According to a statement issued by police on Friday the suspect, identified as Mohd Umer Mochi, was apprehended by police while attempting to flee after being intercepted. He was found carrying a bag that contained a police uniform with the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police. Preliminary investigations suggest that Mochi intended to use the uniform to impersonate a senior police officer and deceive the public. A case has been registered under FIR No. 118/2025 at Police Station Kokernag, and an investigation is currently underway. In its statement police assured that strict action shall be taken against those attempting to impersonate police/civil officers or exploit public trust.
