Srinagar : The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing academic cooperation, research partnerships, joint degree programs, and student exchanges.
The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration in various academic areas, including joint research, consultancy, and outreach initiatives focused on regional development. It also highlights the importance of cooperation in heritage conservation, urban planning, incubation, entrepreneurship, and ABC operations. A high-level delegation from SMVDU, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Pragati Kumar, visited IUST to finalize cooperation areas and engage with faculty and officials. The MoU was signed by Prof. A. H. Moon from IUST and Prof. Balbir Singh from SMVDU, with key university officials present. Prof. Shakil A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, described the MoU as a significant milestone for collaboration among universities in Jammu and Kashmir, expressing intentions to invite other regional universities to join this initiative to foster a broader academic and research network. Prof. Pragati Kumar emphasized the collaboration as a vital step in building a robust academic connection between the two institutions, aiming to leverage shared expertise and resources to create impactful educational and research opportunities. To facilitate effective implementation and monitoring of the collaborative efforts, the MoU establishes a Joint Implementation and Coordination Team (JICT) composed of Deans from both universities. This team will meet quarterly to assess progress, evaluate outcomes, and propose new initiatives, ensuring the partnership remains proactive and focused on advancing academic excellence and regional development.
