Police Commemoration Day Observed with solemn respect at DPL Poonch

Poonch : District Administration and District Police Poonch Tuesday observed Police Commemoration Day 2025 at the Parade Ground, District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch with profound respect and reverence to honour the supreme sacrifices made by brave police personnel in the line of duty.
The ceremony was attended by District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Tazim Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shafket Hussain Bhat, other officers, police personnel and family members of the martyrs.
During the event, rich tributes were paid to the valiant police martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Martyrs’ Memorial, followed by the reading out of names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the past year.
The DDC Chairperson, Deputy Commissioner, and SSP Poonch paid floral tributes and garlanded the memorial as a mark of respect to the departed heroes.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma highlighted the supreme martyrdom of the police personnel who sacrificed their lives while safeguarding the nation and ensuring public safety. He lauded their courage, dedication and unwavering commitment towards maintaining peace and harmony.
Addressing the gathering, the SSP commended the selfless devotion and bravery of the police personnel who continue to uphold law and order, often at the cost of their own lives. He reaffirmed the department’s firm resolve to support the families of the martyrs and preserve their legacy of valour and sacrifice for future generations.
The event concluded with an emotional interaction with the families of the martyrs, reaffirming the police department’s enduring bond, gratitude and commitment towards their welfare.
