Satish Sharma presides Diwali celebrations of J&K Sports Council at Jammu

JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma today presided over the Diwali celebrations organised by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council at KK Hakku Stadium here.
The event brought together athletes, officials, and members of the sports fraternity in a warm and inclusive gathering that highlighted the role of sports in fostering unity, friendship, and collective well-being.
Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Yasha Mudgal; Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul; other senior officers of YSS department and Sports Council, athletes, sportspersons and other members were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister. Satish Sharma said, “Sports plays a vital role in strengthening the bonds of our society. Events like this Diwali celebration reflect the true spirit of Jammu and Kashmir, where people come together in harmony and health”. He added that Sports unites us beyond differences and serves as a foundation for peace and progress.
The Minister further said that the government remains committed to enhancing sports facilities to ensure that more young people find inspiration and opportunity through them. He announced that similar community-based programs will continue to be organized to reinforce the message of peace, inclusion, and youth empowerment through sports.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Secretary YSS appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders in building an inclusive and supportive sports ecosystem across J&K. “The participation of athletes, coaches, and staff in this festival highlights how sports act as a bridge between communities. By improving infrastructure and expanding access, we are ensuring that every young person in J&K can experience the joy and empowerment that sports bring,” she stated.
In her remarks, Secretary Sports Council said, “Our sports fraternity is like one large family. Celebrating festivals together strengthens our resolve to promote inclusivity, encourage youth engagement, and create safe, welcoming spaces through improved sports facilities across Jammu and Kashmir. Our aim is to remain dedicated towards making sports a way of life for everyone.”
As part of the festivities, Diwali gifts were distributed among players, children, and employees associated with the Sports field. The joyful event underscored how sports and sports facilities continue to act as unifying spaces that bring together youth and communities from all backgrounds, encouraging participation, inclusivity, and shared purpose.
