Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-
1. LG Sinha Pays Obeisance To Sacred Relics Of Lord Buddha In Russia: Elista (Russia), Oct 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha this week paid obeisance to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha, brought from India and enshrined at the Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery in Elista. Praying for peace and harmony, the LG said, “May Lord Buddha bless us all and strengthen the spiritual bond between our people.” The enshrinement marks a significant step in cultural and spiritual diplomacy between India and Russia.
2. CM Inaugurates National Conference On Patient Safety at SKICC: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week addressed the inaugural session of the National Conference on Patient Safety at SKICC, Srinagar. He stressed the need to integrate patient care with safety to strengthen healthcare delivery and called for actionable outcomes to enhance safety standards across J&K hospitals. Appreciating SKIMS for hosting the event, he said, “Quality healthcare is incomplete without ensuring patient safety and accountability.”
3. LG Visits ‘Roshan Mustaqbil’ Youth Centre In Kupwara: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha this week visited ‘Roshan Mustaqbil’, a youth empowerment centre at Zangli run by Vajr Division, aimed at channelising local talent into education, skills, and livelihoods. The centre, with over 690 active members, provides training and mentoring support. The LG lauded the initiative for building a brighter, self-reliant future for youth in border districts.
4. LG Sinha Addresses Ex-Servicemen Rally In Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha this week addressed a mega rally of Ex-servicemen organised by the Western Command and 26 Infantry Division to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of India’s 1965 victory over Pakistan. Paying tributes to the martyrs, the LG said, “For me, the land of veterans is no less than a pilgrimage site.” He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.
5. CM e-Inaugurates Key Urban Projects In Kulgam: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday this week e-inaugurated major urban infrastructure projects in Kulgam, including the Solid Waste Management & Material Recovery Facility at Lirrow, a Municipal Shopping Complex, and a Modern Abattoir. The projects are aimed at improving civic amenities, urban commerce, and environmental management in the district.
6. CM Felicitates Meritorious Students, CSR Contributors In Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week felicitated meritorious students and handed over regularisation orders to CPWs at a function organised by the Directorate of School Education, Jammu. He also honoured CSR contributors for strengthening classroom infrastructure through equipment support. Advisor Nasir Sogami and officials from the education department attended the event.
