Srinagar: Police in Awantipora on Saturday seized 6 vehicles involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.
According to a police statement issued here on Saturday a police party in Awantipora seized two tippers involved in illegal activities, with drivers identified as Mohd Saleem Wani and Ab. Rasheed Bhat. A case has been registered under FIR No. 218/2025, and investigations are going on . In a separate incident, the Pampore police seized two JCBs operated by Jan Mohd Guru and Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, also linked to illicit mineral extraction. A case under FIR No.’s 108/2025 and 109/2025 was registered and further investigations are underway. Additionally, the Police Post Reshipora confiscated two dumpers driven by Jehangir Ahmad Wani and Shariq Ahmad Bhat, who were similarly involved in illegal mining activities. A case under FIR No. 219/2025 has been registered at the Awantipora Police Station, with investigations underway. Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance on illegal mining.
