Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam&Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
According to a police statement issued here on Saturday in Kulgam, at a police checkpoint at Kanjikullah two unlawfuls Faizan Ahmad Dar and Sheeraz Ahmad Lone riding a motorcycle were arrested. During the search, authorities recovered 6 grams of a heroin-like substance and cash amounting to Rs 15,720, suspected to be proceeds from narcotics. Both individuals were arrested, and the motorcycle used in the crime was seized. A case has been registered under FIR No. 66/2025 at Police Station Yaripora, with an investigation underway. In Awantipora, police at a checkpoint in Ladhoo Batpora intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Tanveer Ahmad Mochi. During search 3.10 kilograms of grinded cannabis were recovered from the possession of the said accused. A case has been registered under FIR No. 78/2025 at Police Station Khrew, and further investigation is in progress. Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, emphasizing their ongoing crackdown on drug-related offenses.
