Srinagar | Oct, 17: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Friday celebrated IEEE Day 2025 with enthusiasm, organized by the IEEE AP-S/CRFID Chapter in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).
The event aimed to honor global innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence, led by Dr. Mahesh P. Abegaonkar from IIT Delhi and Dr. Amit Kumar from NIT Srinagar. A highlight of the celebration was an insightful talk by Dr. Sheikh Javaid Ahmad from the University of Kashmir, who discussed research and innovation in RF and Microwave Engineering, motivating students and researchers to explore new opportunities in high-frequency systems and communication technologies. Additionally, two Ph.D. scholars from NIT Srinagar, Ms. Jasmine Jan and Mr. Basharat Ali, showcased their research on antenna design, reflecting the ECE Department’s commitment to innovation. Dr. G. R. Beigh, Head of the ECE Department, praised the event’s success and emphasized IEEE’s role in fostering innovation and collaboration among engineers. Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Head of the Training and Placement Center, highlighted the significance of industry-academia interaction in preparing future-ready engineers. Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, commended the organizers and participants, noting that IEEE Day symbolizes the impact of technology in driving positive change and encourages global collaboration in research. He also acknowledged the ongoing partnership with the IEEE Delhi Section as a vital step in enhancing academic and research collaborations. Speaking on the occasion Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Atikur said expressed that the celebration reflects the institute’s growing engagement with global scientific communities, providing students with a platform for innovation and technological advancement.
