DC flags off poshan rally, inspects nutrition stalls

Poshan Maah activities conclude in Reasi with grand valedictory event

Reasi| :  Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik on Thursday chaired the grand valedictory ceremony of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025, which was observed from September 17 to October 16 to promote nutrition awareness, community participation and behavioural change.

During the month-long campaign, a total of 26,523 activities were conducted across the district, engaging over 3.11 lakh individuals. The activities included healthy recipe competitions, identification of SAM/MAM children, awareness sessions on healthy lifestyles, recipe demonstrations featuring low-fat, low-sugar meals and yoga activities.

Among others present at the event included ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal; PO POSHAN Sudershan Kumar; ACD Vijay Kumar; CDPO Arnas Shahid Iqbal; CDPO ReasiSuninderjeet Kour; CDPO Pouni Lekha Bhasinand Anganwadi Sanginis and Sahayikas from across the district.

The Anganwadi workers presented a cultural program and a thematic skit highlighting the crucial role of Anganwadi Centres in improving child nutrition and early education.

A short documentary produced under the Poshan Project Reasi was also screened, showcasing the functioning and positive impact of Anganwadi Centres in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Nidhi Malik commended the efforts of the POSHAN Department and acknowledged the dedicated contribution of Anganwadi workers, who led impactful activities throughout the month aimed at promoting health, hygiene and nutrition at the grassroots level.

On the occasion, the DC gave away 26 engagement orders to newly appointed functionaries, including 4 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and 14 Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) under Poshan Project Reasi and 8 AWHs from Poshan Project Pouni.

The DC also inspected Nutrition Stalls set up by the Anganwadi Centres, which displayed locally prepared nutritious food items and distributed IEC material to promote healthy eating habits.

Later, DC Nidhi Malik flagged off a “Poshan Rally”, organized to raise community awareness on the importance of balanced nutrition, good health and hygiene practices.
