“NIT Srinagar aims to be a 21st-century educational hub of knowledge, leadership, and service, with national and global reach, through collective expertise, strong connections, and a forward-looking spirit.”

On 11th October 2025, NIT Srinagar released its ambitious “Vision Document – SANGAM 2030”, articulating a roadmap titled “5 by 5” that aims to transform the Institute into a globally connected, purpose-driven, and emotionally engaged community. Anchored in the ethos of “Strive for Excellence, Serve the Nation,” this vision envisions alumni as lifelong partners—champions of innovation, mentorship, and societal impact—who will actively shape the Institute’s journey toward academic distinction, regional development, and global recognition. By harnessing collective expertise, nurturing enduring connections, and embracing a forward-looking spirit, NIT Srinagar seeks to redefine the role of an educational institution in the 21st century: as a hub of knowledge, leadership, and service with far-reaching national and international resonance. Established in 1960 as the Regional Engineering College (REC) Srinagar and elevated to National Institute of Technology status in 2003, NIT Srinagar has stood as a bastion of technical excellence, intellectual rigor, and national service for over six decades. Nestled amidst the serene landscapes of the Kashmir Valley, the Institute has not only nurtured generations of engineers, scientists, and innovators but has also acted as a catalyst for regional transformation through education, technology, and human capital development. Over 40,000 graduates have walked through its halls, many of whom continue to serve as torchbearers of Indian innovation, leadership, and resilience across academia, research, entrepreneurship, governance, and global industry. Their contributions span diverse fields and geographies, shaping societies, advancing technologies, and inspiring future generations. Building upon this enduring legacy, SANGAM 2030 positions NIT Srinagar to expand its global presence while simultaneously strengthening its national impact. In an era marked by rapid technological evolution and increasing global competition, forging strong alumni connections and international collaborations is no longer optional—it is an institutional imperative. The Vision 2030 recognizes that an educational institution’s role extends beyond classrooms and laboratories, requiring it to serve as a hub of intellectual leadership, innovation-driven development, and societal engagement. By creating a vibrant platform for alumni and international stakeholders, NIT Srinagar aims to cultivate a culture of mentorship, entrepreneurship, and collaborative problem-solving that benefits students, faculty, and the broader community alike. Central to this vision are the Institute’s guiding principles of excellence, integrity, inclusivity, diversity, lifelong engagement, and the blending of global vision with local roots. These core values ensure that every initiative under the alumni and international affairs ecosystem is purpose-driven, ethically grounded, nationally patriotic, and globally relevant. They reflect a commitment to fostering enduring relationships, supporting professional growth, and encouraging socially responsible innovation that serves communities while elevating the Institute’s reputation on the world stage.

“SANGAM 2030 is NIT Srinagar’s strategic declaration to transform its alumni into lifelong partners who contribute to institutional excellence, regional development, and global impact. By linking alumni efforts with student empowerment and innovation, the Institute aims to create a future where every graduate shapes their own, the alma mater’s, and the nation’s destiny, reaffirming NIT Srinagar’s role as a national and international beacon of knowledge and service.”

By embedding mentorship, innovation, and philanthropy into the alumni ecosystem, NIT Srinagar seeks to transform its graduates from individual achievers into agents of institutional and societal progress. SANGAM 2030 outlines a transformative five-year plan aimed at strengthening the Institute’s alumni and international ecosystem. It seeks to create a network of active alumni chapters across India and abroad, foster collaborative partnerships with universities, research centers, and industries, and provide structured mentorship and career guidance for students. Through alumni-led initiatives in innovation, entrepreneurship, and research, the Institute plans to provide incubation, funding, and strategic support for emerging ventures. Additionally, the vision emphasizes mobilizing alumni contributions and corporate social responsibility resources to enhance scholarships, laboratories, and infrastructure, including the establishment of an Alumni House and an International Hostel as enduring symbols of pride, connectivity, and institutional legacy. SANGAM 2030 is more than a strategic document; it is a declaration of intent. It reflects NIT Srinagar’s ambition to transform its alumni into lifelong partners who can contribute to institutional excellence, regional development, and global impact. By linking alumni efforts with student empowerment, societal innovation, and knowledge dissemination, the Institute aims to create a future where every graduate has the opportunity to shape not just their own destiny, but also that of their alma mater, their community, and their nation. In doing so, NIT Srinagar reaffirms its position as a national and international beacon of knowledge, innovation, and service—a legacy that is deeply rooted in the past and boldly oriented toward the future.
