Alumni pledge support for research, student dev, strengthening institute’s global footprint
Srinagar | : The two-day annual alumni meet, SANGAM-2025, on Saturday concluded at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, organized by the Office of Dean Alumni and International Affairs in collaboration with the NIT Srinagar Alumni Association.
The event brought together distinguished alumni, faculty, students, and guests, with notable attendees including Chief Guest Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir, and other esteemed guests. In his keynote address, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath emphasized the importance of effective communication and strong connections within the alumni network to enhance NIT Srinagar’s growth and reputation. He encouraged alumni to actively participate in institutional initiatives and contribute to research and innovation, highlighting their role as vital links between the institute and the global professional community.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, praised the organizing committee and reaffirmed the importance of alumni engagement in the institute’s transformation and global reputation. Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, I/C Director, noted significant progress in research and student welfare, advocating for deeper alumni engagement through joint initiatives. Former Director Prof. A.M. Wani reflected on the institute’s journey and growth, attributing it to visionary faculty and successful alumni. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman provided insights into academic progress and infrastructural developments, emphasizing the commitment to innovation and inclusivity. The President of the Alumni Association, Prof. M.S. Mir, highlighted the need for alumni to act as ambassadors of NIT Srinagar’s legacy, while Prof. M.A. Shah underscored the significance of nurturing strong institutional bonds and the release of the vision document for 2030. Er. Aamir Ali, General Secretary of the Alumni Association, called for structured engagement programs to support current students. Guest speakers, including Er. Ram Mohan and Dr. Pradeep Tyle, stressed the importance of technical education and industry-driven projects, while Er. Mally Chatterjee advocated for a strong alumni endowment fund. Chairman Manzoor Wagnoo emphasized the need for stronger industry-academia linkages. The event also featured the release of “Bridges & Beacons: A Chronicle of NIT Srinagar,” capturing the institute’s evolution and alumni success stories. The dignitaries recognized faculty, students, and volunteers for their contributions, and the event concluded with a plantation drive and ceremonial activities.
