Mission Dir reviews progress of HADP projects in Jammu division

Jammu | :  Mission Director Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP)- J&K Govt  Sandeep Kumar  Saturday reviewed the progress  and implementation of HADP in Jammu Division at a meeting held here at Directorate of Animal Husbandry Talab Tillo.

The meeting was attended by Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Sanjay Gupta; Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Syed Moin ul Haq; Joint Directors, Deputy Directors besides officers from Planning, Publicity and Technical sections of Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Jammu. The Chief Animal Husbandry Officers from across all the districts of Jammu division joined the meeting through virtual mode.

The Mission Director took a detailed assessment of the implementation status, financial progress and support being extended to farmers under different projects of the scheme. He emphasized the timely completion of all ongoing projects, speedy processing of pending applications and effective coordination with all stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of schemes on the ground.

The Mission Director further stressed on creating mass awareness about the scope of HADP in promoting entrepreneurship in  the dairy, poultry and fodder sectors.

The Officers were directed to conduct regular field level assessments to identify areas where HADP projects might work well in terms of value addition and processing of milk for which necessary infrastructure can be created.

The Mission Director also passed directions to encourage farmers to adopt balanced feeding practices for milch animals to ensure optimum nutrition, reduce feed costs thus resulting in enhanced milk production and income levels.

While explaining the importance of Milk Recording, he stressed on its crucial role in monitoring milch animal’s performance and identifying high-yielding animals for future use in animal breeding for better productivity and improved profitability in dairy farming.

While reviewing the progress of projects under Fodder development component of HADP, the Mission Director asked the officers to give a major push to silage making from locally available green fodder crops like maize in all districts of Jammu division to ensure year-round availability of nutritious fodder for dairy animals. He further stressed on capacity building of farmers through demonstrations and training in this regard.

While reviewing poultry development initiatives, the Mission Director highlighted that FPOs can play a vital role in organizing the unorganized poultry sector in the region and directed the officers to identify potential poultry-clusters for setting up poultry FPOs. The Mission Director also called for extending handholding support and financial assistance to these FPOs under HADP projects.

Concluding the meeting, the Mission Director urged the officers to record all established projects under various components of HADP on Kisan Sathi Output Tracking app to ensure accountability in public spending.
