Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-
1. LG Inaugurates Kashmir Literature Festival: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha this week inaugurated the 2nd edition of the Kashmir Literature Festival, highlighting the need for writers to offer new perspectives to readers in a rapidly evolving world. He urged authors to conduct thorough research and present factually accurate historical accounts, challenging distortions from the colonial era and subsequent ideological biases.
2. PM-KISAN 21st Instalment Released for J&K Farmers: LG Sinha this week expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the advance release of the 21st instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring Rs. 171 crore directly to the bank accounts of around 8.55 lakh farmers in Jammu & Kashmir. The financial aid aims to help farmers sustain livelihoods and quickly resume agricultural activities.
3. Chief Minister Appreciates PM-KISAN Support: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week acknowledged Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for releasing over ₹170 crore under the 21st PM-KISAN instalment, benefiting more than 8.5 lakh farmers. Cabinet Minister Javed Dar, along with officers, participated in the online function marking the release.
4. LG Addresses 10th All India Police Judo Cluster: LG Sinha this week addressed athletes at the 10th All India Police Judo Cluster in Srinagar, highlighting the role of sports in fostering identity, camaraderie, courage, and character building. He also praised the J&K Police for maintaining law and order, combating terrorism, and contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring peace and stability for industrial and overall growth.
5. CM Reviews CAPEX, CDF Progress: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week chaired a review of CAPEX and CDF expenditure for 2025–26, assessing department- and district-wise progress. He stressed accelerated work execution, timely fund utilization, and 100% uploading of works on BEAMS, while directing close coordination with MLAs to fast-track CDF projects and ensure visible outcomes on the ground.
6. CM Inaugurates 69th National School Games: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this week inaugurated the 69th National School Games 2025 at TRC Stadium, Srinagar, with over 4,000 young athletes participating in Football, Wushu, Taekwondo, and Table Tennis. He appreciated the Youth Services and Sports Department for preparations and reiterated the government’s commitment to youth engagement and sports promotion in J&K.
7. LG Felicitates Winners Of ALOHA State-Level Competition: LG Sinha this week felicitated top performers of the ALOHA State Level Competition, praising children for their exceptional arithmetic skills. He emphasized that the growth of J&K is linked to youth development and pledged to provide an environment for nurturing talented scholars, scientists, and innovators.
