Kulgam|: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam, Altaf Ahmad Khan Saturday chaired a meeting of district level committee constituted for the implementation of recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms 2.0 and to ensure that the benefits of reductions in tax rates reach the consumers and promote the savings.
During the meeting, the ADDC emphasized the need for strict enforcement in accordance to the provisions of law & to prevent profiteering, fake invoicing, and directed the concerned departments to constitute special market-checking teams for inspection of the business units.
These teams will monitor different markets in the district to ensure that commodity prices are reduced in proportion to the GST rate cuts recently announced by the Central Government.
The market inspections will be intensified in coming days both at District level and Tehsil level to ensure compliance and strict action against any violations will be taken, he added.
The ADDC directed the departments to intensify the IEC campaign of the GST reforms so that the people at large get informed about it and benefit from the new GST refor
Earlier in the meeting, State Taxes Officer, Circle Kulgam, presented a detailed overview of the key features of the next-Gen GST refor
Officers from Health, Revenue, Food & Civil Supplies, Sales Tax, Legal Metrology, Drug Controller, food safety and other concerned attended the meeting.
