Ministers Javed Rana, Javid Dar review key issues in B’la, Sopore, Rafiabad Constituencies

Baramulla | : Ministers Javed Ahmed Rana and  Javid Ahmad Dar, on Thursday conducted a thorough review of developmental challenges and public welfare issues in the Baramulla, Sopore, and Rafiabad constituencies. The meeting was attended by  key stakeholders such as local MLAs and district officials and discussion at the key meet focused on a roadmap for accelerated and inclusive development.

Minister Javed Ahmad Rana emphasized the timely and efficient implementation of ongoing and upcoming projects, particularly the operationalization of completed Water Supply Schemes to ensure immediate benefits for the community. He highlighted the need for optimal resource utilization, directing the Chief Engineer of Jal Shakti to devise a plan for better manpower and machinery deployment. Additionally, he called for the enhancement of existing water supply schemes and the submission of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for proposed upgrades to facilitate prompt approvals. Quality control in infrastructure development was also stressed, with instructions for regular site inspections to ensure compliance with technical standards. To address water shortages, Rana approved the deployment of additional water tankers in deficit areas and underscored the importance of water conservation practices. He advocated for sustainable water resource management to ensure long-term availability, aligning with the government’s vision for environmentally responsible development. The Minister also urged for expedited forest clearances for pending infrastructure projects, emphasizing the need to balance development with ecological preservation. In terms of social welfare, Rana directed the timely disbursement of scholarships for Scheduled Tribe students and ensured that tribal communities have access to welfare schemes. Minister Dar contributed suggestions for strengthening water supply infrastructure, advocating for technological upgrades and improved management practices. He also raised operational issues needing administrative attention for better public service delivery. Local MLAs raised specific concerns, with MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar highlighting the need to revive the Nehri Zangeer for water supply and improve the local piping network. MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Baig pointed out delays in infrastructure project approvals due to pending forest clearances and called for dredging canals and upgrading outdated machinery. He also expressed concerns regarding tribal development and the need for targeted welfare initiatives to uplift tribal communities’ socio-economic conditions.
