GDC R S Pura organises National Workshop -cum- Skill Enhancement Fest “Artful Bond”

Jammu |: Government Degree College R.S. Pura Thursday organized a National Workshop cum Skill Enhancement Fest themed “Artful Bond” under the patronage of the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour and supervision of IQAC.

Member Legislative Assembly, R.S. Pura, Dr. Narinder Singh Raina was the Chief Guest, while renowned flutist Pt. Santosh Sant was the resource person.

Pt. Santosh Sant, a senior disciple of living legend Padmavibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, was accompanied by Harshiti Giri and Neeraj Verma on Tabla.

Pt. Santosh Sant has performed at numerous prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. He has been rewarded with the Gold medal by the Department of Culture, Govt. of India and the Directorate General of All India Radio for his best performance. He is also honored with the titles, “Abhinav Kala Samman”, “Soordas-Samman”, “Surmani”, “Venu-Shree” and “Pt. Bhimsen Joshi National Award”.

At the event, the audience was treated to an unforgettable musical experience that highlighted the elegance and expressive power of the flute.

The presence of distinguished guests Principal of GDC Ghagwal Dr. Sujata Slathia and Dr. Meeru Abrol from GDC Ramgarh elevated the event’s significance.

The welcome address was delivered by HOD Economics Dr. Shivani Manchanda.

The workshop cum skill fest presented an eclectic mix of food and ceramic stalls, offering visitors a unique cultural and sensory experience. A diverse range of food stalls showcasing traditional, regional and fusion dishes, each representing the rich culinary heritage of the area was another major attraction.

Ceramic art stalls featured beautifully crafted pottery, mandala art and decorative pieces created by students. College achievements in various domains like literary, cultural and sports were also presented in the event. Prominent faculty members of the college also graced the event with their presence.

The event was coordinated by Dr Rajinder Kumar Sharma; Dr Anupama Pandotra ; Dr. Jasmeet Kour, HOD Music; Prof. Lukesha Dubgotra, NSS PO and Dr. Roopali Slathia. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Shivani Manchanda, HOD Economics.
