Police conducts inspection of SIM vendors to prevent SIM misuse in Ang, Kulgam, Sopore & Handwara

Srinagar | : Police on Wednesday conducted special inspections of SIM card vendors in Anantnag, Kulgam, Sopore & Handwara.

According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar in Anantnag, Kulgam, Sopore, and Handwara, J&K Police conducted surprise inspections of SIM card vendors to enforce compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and to prevent the unauthorized activation of SIM cards. These operations aimed to ensure thorough verification of customer documents and adherence to guidelines set by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). During the inspections, police officers engaged with vendors, highlighting their critical role in protecting communication networks from misuse for unlawful or anti-national activities. Vendors were reminded of their responsibilities to follow KYC and documentation protocols strictly. The police in its statement emphasized that any violations would result in severe legal consequences, reinforcing the importance of maintaining the integrity and transparency of the SIM issuance process.
