Srinagar | : Police on Wednesday said that it has attached a residential property and land valued at approximately ₹75 lakhs under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). The attached property shared double-storey residential house and 2.5 marlas of shared land (out of a total of 15 marlas) is located at Kenihama, BK Pora, Nowgam.

According to a  statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the property in question is registered under the name of Mohammad Jaffar Ganie, the father of Parwaiz Ahmad Ganie, who is currently incarcerated in District Jail Kathua due to the Public Safety Act (PSA). Parwaiz Ahmad Ganie is implicated in FIR No. 128/2022, which involves violations of the NDPS Act, specifically Sections 8, 22, and 29. The investigation revealed that Parwaiz is a significant shareholder in the property, possessing a room in the residential house and 2.5 marlas of land. Consequently, the property was attached in accordance with Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. This action was executed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class, BK Pora, along with two independent witnesses, ensuring adherence to legal protocols. The competent authority, SAFEMA in New Delhi, approved the attachment, and proper notice was issued as mandated by law. As a result of this legal action, the owner is now prohibited from selling, leasing, altering, or establishing any third-party interests in the attached property, in compliance with legal provisions.
