DLSA B’gam launches Awareness Drive on Welfare Schemes

Budgam | :  The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Budgam launched Campaign under which several Programmes, drives, door to door campaigns, one to one interactions etc. were conducted in various areas of District Budgam in order to sensitize people about the various benefits and welfare schemes available for the widows.

A team of Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) was deputed for the said Campaign which was conducted in view of NHRC advisory on protection of human rights of widows.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Arun Palli, and Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Sanjeev Kumar and was conducted under the directions of Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Shazia Tabassum; Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Budgam, O.P. Bhagat. The Campaign was launched under the active guidance of Secretary, DLSA Budgam, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

The primary objective of the campaign was to sensitize people about the various benefits and schemes available to widows, ensuring that they are made aware of and subsequently they can avail themselves of the welfare measures and legal aid provided for their support and empowerment.

The  PLVs of DLSA Budgam conducted door-to-door awareness campaigns, one to one interaction Sessions with the widows in need and several other community awareness drives were conducted by the deputed PLV’s of district Budgam across the length and breadth of the district to inform the general public about the widow welfare schemes available in Jammu and Kashmir.

PLVs imparted awareness regarding prominent schemes for widows in the Union Territory which including Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) which Provides financial assistance to eligible Below Poverty Line (BPL) widows aged 40 years and above,      Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) which is  a state-sponsored initiative providing financial aid to widows and women in distress,  AASRA Scheme which offers insurance coverage to destitute and underprivileged women and  State Rehabilitation Council’s Schemes which Provides  pensions to widows of militancy victi
